Brandon Wilhelmi is a first grade teacher, assistant football coach, and head baseball coach at Springfield Public School. He was a multi-sport athlete that graduated from Springfield in 2004. Following high school, Brandon went on to continue his education at Southwest Minnesota State University. While earning his bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, he was also a member of the SMSU baseball team. As a pitcher, he earned All-Conference and All-Region Awards as a senior. Brandon also received the SMSU Baseball Mustang Award (Most Inspirational). Following his final year of playing college baseball, he was an assistant coach with the team. Brandon taught two years at Lakeview Public School and coached JH baseball and basketball. Brandon took a first grade teaching job in Springfield in 2011.
Brandon has been a JV and Varsity coach in the football program coaching special teams, running backs, and linebackers. He is also the Head Baseball Coach, winning a State Championship in the Spring of 2024. This year will be Brandon's fourth as the Varsity Defensive Coordinator. In 2024, Wilhelmi led a defense that saw 4 players be named All-District intercepted 25 passes, sacked opposing QBs 11 times, accumulated 98 tackles for loss, and only surrendered 13.7 points per game on their way to a third consecutive Class A Runner-Up Finish.
His wife Katie is a Special Education teacher and head softball coach. They live in Springfield with their two children, Blake and Brynn.
